JPEG does not support transparency; transparent areas will use a white background.
These dimensions match 300 dpi at the most common print sizes, the minimum resolution recommended for a printed photo to look sharp with no visible pixelation.
| Use | Size | Ratio |
|---|---|---|
| 4 × 6 in | 1200×1800 px | 2:3 |
| 5 × 7 in | 1500×2100 px | 5:7 |
| 8 × 10 in | 2400×3000 px | 4:5 |
1200×1800 px, which is 4×6 inches at 300 dpi.
1500×2100 px at 300 dpi.
2400×3000 px at 300 dpi.
Print sizes have different proportions than most camera photos (for example 2:3 for 4×6 and 4:5 for 8×10). Crop it here first so you choose what is cut instead of leaving it to the lab.
If the source image has lower resolution, the final crop may lose some sharpness when enlarged; for best results start from a high-resolution photo.
JPG is the standard format accepted by most photo labs.
